Join us as we explore the song's history, its impact on hip-hop, and the legacy of The Geto Boys.
We begin with a moment of silence for DJ Ready Red and Bushwick Bill, paying homage to their contributions to the group and the music industry. The episode also includes a heartfelt shoutout to Krayzie Bone, who at the time of this original recording, was fighting for his life, sending continued prayers and positive vibes his way.
As we reminisce about The Geto Boys, we delve into the group's origins, lineup changes, and the creation of their unique sound. The episode highlights the significance of "Mind Playing Tricks on Me," its production by Scarface, and the song's themes of mental health, paranoia, and depression.
We also discuss the song's cultural impact, its chart success, and its role in shaping the horrorcore subgenre. The music video, with its gritty, low-fi aesthetic, is analyzed for its visual representation of the song's lyrics, adding another layer to its storytelling.

This episode is not only very funny, but it talks a lot about mental health problems. Both of the guys understand what it’s like to suffer and are empathetic to people who are going through it. It’s done very sensitively but still manages to keep the humor! It’s a great episode!!! Love it!!
